Terms of service

1. Purpose

  • We declare that we are committed to Diamond Open Access (DOA) as an equitable, fair and trustworthy publishing model that does not charge fees to authors and rests on institutional and community ownership. We agree to support the visibility, discoverability and recognition of DOA journals within the Diamond Discovery Hub (DDH), supported by the European Diamond Capacity Hub (EDCH) and wish to collaborate as a Trusted Source.

2. Roles, Responsibilities and Communication

  • We commit ourselves to verify all our journals we wish to list in the DDH by using the six operational Diamond OA criteria and verification guidelines. We will share the metadata of our journals with the DDH.
  • In case we apply an automated verification process, we will make the process transparent by sharing the methodology with DDH representatives.
  • We are aware that the Diamond Discovery Hub (DDH) commits to the following:
  1. DDH team sets up a DDH account for the Trusted Source and helps with verification and data ingestion, according to its capacities.
  2. DDH accepts verified journal metadata provided by Trusted Source, presents their DOA journals on the DDH platform and for metadata harvesting to enhance visibility, discoverability and recognition of DOA journals through the registry.
  3. Clearly distinguishes genuine DOA journals that meet all six criteria from those that are emerging and might need to evolve on one remaining criteria in the DDH.
  • We, as the Trusted Source, designate a representative to act as the primary contact with the DDH. The contact details entered to process this form stand for the required primary contact. We confirm that any personal data can be processed by DDH and that the person behind it agrees to this.
  • We agree to receive system-generated notifications or emails requiring action, especially around update requests from third parties. We agree to respond in a timely and cooperative way.
  • We agree to provide updates on changes to journal metadata (especially around scope or ownership) and follow up on journal deletions or journals leaving our service portfolio.

3. Duration and Termination

  • We confirm that our support of Diamond Open Access as defined by EDCH and DDH is ongoing and valid as long as our journals are listed in the DDH. Should our mission change and thus the Diamond OA nature of the listed journals, we will take reasonable effort to delist the journals. In case we fail to do so, the EDCH has the right to remove our journals from the public DDH.
